Havana, September 27 (RHC)-- Hurricane Ian, category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, made landfall in Cuba today shortly after 03:00 local time, by Coloma in the province of Pinar del Rio, in the western part of the country.

Havana, Sep 26 (Web Network) The National General Staff of Cuba’s Civil Defense establishes the Cyclonic Alarm Phase for the western provinces of Pinar del Río, Artemisa, and the special municipality Isla de la Juventud, from 17:00 hours this Monday, taking into account that Hurricane Ian will continue to gain in organization and intensity, approaching the national territory.

Manila, September 27 (RHC)-- The Philippines has begun cleaning up after Typhoon Noru swept across the northern part of the country, leaving at least five rescuers dead, floods and power cuts but leaving the capital relatively unscathed.  Noru, with sustained winds of 185 kilometres (115 miles) per hour, was the most powerful typhoon to hit the Southeast Asian nation this year.
