Pedro Castillo assumed the presidency of Peru last July; since that moment the right wing has not stopped trying by all means to undermine the government, aimed at all Peruvians, but essentially at the most humble layers of society.

In fact, the proclamation of the teacher and trade unionist Castillo as the winner of the second round of elections last June, with 50.19% of the votes, was delayed for more than a month, in view of the right wing's pretensions to deny him victory.

The Popular Force party, of his rival in the polls, Keiko Fujimori, resorted to legal tricks, lies, harassment and bullying of the electoral authorities, in a desperate attempt to reverse the results of the general elections.

There have been several destabilizing actions during these four months in office in an attempt to remove cabinet ministers so that they could be appointed as allies of the right wing.

In order to calm the crisis and to be able to carry out the government program, aimed at the dispossessed, changes were made, but the pressure continues and uncertainty dominates the Peruvian panorama.

The danger of the so-called presidential vacancy, which has been applied in recent times, is present. Last November 25, congressmen from three right-wing parties, Avanza País, Fuerza Popular and Renovación Popular, presented before the legislative body a request for the president's removal from office, claiming that he was morally incapable of performing his duties.

On December 7, Congress is scheduled to discuss the admission for debate of the request, rejected by a large part of the citizens.

A survey by the Institute of Peruvian Studies revealed that 71% of the inhabitants of this South American country disapprove of the actions of the Congress, dominated by the opposition.

The poll, released in recent days, made it clear that 55% of Peruvians disagree with the current vacancy request against the president elected at the polls.

In the opinion of many, this mechanism is misused and manipulated only for political purposes and private interests, without taking into account at all the welfare of the country.

There are even many who have called for the closure of the legislative body in view of its inoperability and its determination to hinder the government's work for a fairer Peru.

The increasingly hostile stance of the Peruvian right wing against President Pedro Castillo does not allow the country to emerge from the political instability in which it has been immersed in recent years, which has been to the detriment of Peruvians.
