Bibliographic exhibition dedicated to National Hero on his 169th birthday anniversary

A bibliographic exhibition at the José Martí National Library is dedicated to the Cuban National hero on his 169th birthday anniversary this January 28th.

The exhibit is organized by the Club Martiano Literature Project, attached to the Library –declared a National Monument in 2021.

Bibliographic materials on display include documents, books, essays and articles by or about José Martí, photos and posters.

The exhibition is as part of a broad program of activities throughout 2022, as tribute to the Cuban patriot, organized by the José Martí Office and the World Council of the José Martí Project for International Solidarity.

A symbol of Cuban identity and culture in and outside Cuba, the José Martí National Library has also called the 23rd edition of its literary contest ‘Leer a Martí’, aimed at disseminating the thought of the Apostle of Cuban Independence among the new generations. The contest is open to young Cubans, from fourth grade to university students, who should write an essay about Martí’s works.

The contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the José Martí National Library, the Ministry of Education, the José Martí Studies Center, the Young Communists League and the José Martí Pioneer Children’s Organization.

The winners of the contest will be announced in January 2023 on the 170th birthday anniversary of Martí.
