Havana, Feb. 16 (RHC)—The Association of Writer and Artists (UNEAC) will host the presentation of the book ‘Alicia Alonso. Gloria y escuela (apuntes biográficos)’ by Cuban researcher and critic Pedro Simón.

The text celebrates the vast legacy of prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso -- a Cuban and international dance legend.

Cuban poet Miguel Barnet- National Literature Prize laureate and honorary president of UNEAC will present the book during a ceremony on February 18th at the Martínez Villena Hall of UNEAC.

The book reportedly includes a chapter that compiles opinions on Alicia’s work as a dancer, choreographer and teacher, expressed by other renowned Cuban and foreign ballet dancers, intellectuals and artists of her time, and iconic photos of the legendary artist from the archives of the National Dance Museum and the Cuban Ballet Magazine.

The book ‘Alicia Alonso. Gloria y escuela (apuntes biográficos)’ compiles the testimony of such renowned personalities as European ballet dancers Maurice Béjart and Rudolf Nureyev, and Cuban writers Alejo Carpentier and Dulce María Loynaz.
