Hera de Cuba 'Santa'

Havana, Feb. 18 (RHC)-- Cuban singer Erailys Elejalde –better known as Hera de Cuba—has presented her debut musical production, an EP or ‘extended play record’ entitled ‘Santa’.

A self-taught artist, Hera de Cuba, an exponent of Afro-Cuban rhythms, thanked the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Music and the Antonio María Romeu Provincial Company for the Commercialization of Music and Artistic Shows for their support over ten years of artistic life.

The EP compiles 3 songs –two of them written by the artist herself. Titles include ‘Mi canción’, ‘Íconos’ and the title track ‘Santa’.

With musical production and arrangements by renowned Cuban trombone player Eduardo Sandoval, the musical production features collaborations by other notable musicians, among them pianist Andy García, electric guitar player Dayron Ortiz, bassist Lino Dariel Piquero, drummer Yandy García, percussionist José Julian Morejón Pino and violinist William Roblejo.

In ‘Santa’, Hera de Cuba mixes Yoruba tunes with contemporary sounds and genres like jazz. The title track is accompanied by a music video by video makers Reinier Nande, Victor Bordón and Humberto Monteagudo.

Before launching her solo career, Hera de Cuba was lead singer with groups like Las Chicas del Sol and Arnaldo y la Aventura.

Regarding Cuban musicians, who have profoundly influenced her artistic work, she mentions Elena Burke, Bola de Nieve and Benny Moré.
