Havana’s Book Fair comes to a close

Havana’s 25th International Book Fair wound up in the Cuban capital to start a tour of the rest of the country’s provinces.

The panel Three Uruguayan writers of the 20th century took place on closing day at the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress, the main venue of the most important cultural event in Cuba, honoring the country to which this year’s fair was dedicated.The books Narraciones by Felisberto Hernández; Junta cadáveres by Juan Carlos Onetti, and Veinte cuentos, by Mario Arregui were also launched during the last day. Renowned Cuban intellectuals participated in the panel, following the fair’s tradition to go beyond the sale of books and encourage creation.

The Havana chapter of the Book Fair was attended by delegations from 37 countries, more than three thousand volumes were launched and the National Literature Prize was presented to ethnologist, Rogelio Martínez Furé and poetess, Lina de Feria.
