Baseball: Cuba beats Venezuela 3-0 to lead its group in Junior Pan American Games

Havana, November 30 (RHC)-- With the offensive power of Pedro Pablo Revilla and a monticular dissertation by José Eduardo Santos, the Cuban under 23 baseball team participating in the First Pan American Junior Games defeated Venezuela 3-0, to lead its qualifying group.

At the Edgar Rentería stadium in Barranquilla, the Guantanamo slugger Revilla went 3-3 in the game, and with a pair of doubles, he towed the three runs that gave the second victory of the tournament to the disciples of the Spíritus mentor Eriel Sánchez.

Revilla drove in the first run in the opening chapter, with a jit that found first baseman Roberto Álvarez at third base for a triple. The other two runs came in the fifth inning with a two-run homer that found two runners in circulation.

Meanwhile, the espirituano right-hander José Eduardo Santos barely allowed the South American team any freedom, as he was hit by four unbatable runs in six innings. The seventh inning was pitched immaculately by Pinar del Río's Frank Abel Álvarez.

The Cuban batters had seven hits, the same number they had in the two previous games: in the 2-0 victory over Brazil (5) and in the 2-3 setback against Nicaragua.
