Caribbeans Miller-Uibo and Parchment add votes in Prensa Latina poll

Havana, December 17 (RHC)-- Four-star sprinter Shaunae Miller-Uibo (Bahamas) and short hurdler Hansle Parchment (Jamaica) added their first votes as best athletes in Latin America and the Caribbean in the Prensa Latina Annual Poll.

Both Miller-Uibo and Parchment received the endorsement of the Guatemalan News Agency (AGN) in the category of most outstanding athlete among women and men, respectively, endorsed by their titles in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The 27-year-old Bahamian reedited in the Japanese capital the golden scepter achieved in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 version, by winning the oval lap with a personal best and national record of 48.36 seconds.

In the case of Jamaican Parchment, he triumphed in the final of the 110 meters hurdles with a time of 13.04 to add his first title under the shadow of the five rings and the second metal, after the bronze of London 2012.

The NGA gave its vote in the most important team category to Brazil's men's soccer team, champions at the Tokyo 2020 event and assured of a place at the Qatar 2022 World Cup by leading the South American qualifiers undefeated.

The vote of the AGN marks the participation of the Guatemalan media in this 57th edition of the Prensa Latina poll, which closes its voting period today.

The results will be announced next Monday at a press conference and the media - radio, television, written and digital press - can still send their choice (never personally) to the following e-mail address: deportes@prensa-latina.cu.
