Havana, September 22 (RHC) - Cuban GM Yasser Quesada, current Cuban chess monarch, is virtual champion of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña International Chess Classic, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The native of Villa Clara (center of the island) reached 7 points out of a possible 8 on Wednesday and is unreachable for the rest of the contenders, when only one round remains on Thursday for the end of the event.

According to expert Osmani Pedraza, on the most recent date, the Cuban GM defeated Spanish GM Pepe Cuenca.
