In other matches of the day, the Dominican Republic will face South Korea in Pool B and Puerto Rico will take on Belgium in Pool A.

The Polish team debuted on Friday with a 3-1 win over Croatia in section B with scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-15.

The winners scored 54 points in attack to 49 for the Balkan team, 13 in blocking compared to nine for the Croatians and three in serving, one less than the defeated team.

Olivia Rozanski led the Polish offense with 16 points, 14 in attack and one in blocking and serving, seconded by Magdalena Stysiak, author of 15 points (14-1-0) and Korneluk Agnieszka, who scored 14 points (7-7-0).

For the Croatians, Lucija Mlinar scored 16 points (13-2-1), Martina Samadan had 13 (11-2-0) and Laura Milos, 11 (11-0-0-0).

In the other match of the opening day, the Netherlands beat Kenya 3-0 with scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-11.
