Noslen Diaz-Jorge Luis Alayo

Havana, October 3 (JIT) - Cubans Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo won the silver medals at the fourth stop of the Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit 2022, which concluded on Sunday in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

After four consecutive victories, the Cubans lost for the title against the U.S. duo of Timothy Brewster and Kyle Friend by scores of 21-16 and 22-20.

The Antilleans won their two matches in group B and those corresponding to the quarterfinals and semifinals, the latter against the Canadians Jake MacNeil and William Russell (21-13, 22-20) despite getting complicated in the second set.

This silver medal represents the third medal won by the Cubans in as many phases of the Circuit. In the first, held in Aguascalientes, Mexico, in April, they climbed to the top of the podium. In the second, held in Varadero, in May, they won bronze. They only missed the third round in La Paz.

With this performance in the Dominican resort, our team earned 288 points for the North, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (Norceca) ranking, valid for the qualification to the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023 and the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023.
