Cuba will attend the Baku 2022 Ibsa Paralympic World Cup in Baku

Havana, November 1 (JIT)--  Led by two-time London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic champion Dalisdaivis Rodriguez, now in the 70 kg division, a delegation of nine Cubans will participate in the Baku 2022 Ibsa World Judo Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Four women and five men will compete in the preliminary phase from November 5 to 7, qualifying for the medal round.

Those who qualify for the second phase will compete again from November 8 to 10.   This same group of athletes, after the world tournament organized by the International Blind Sports Federation (Ibsa), will compete at the area level.   It is the Ibsa Pan American Judo Championship of Edmonton 2022, to be held from December 7 to 12.

The Cuban women's squad to both events will be integrated, in addition to Rodriguez in the 70 kg of the J2 functional medical classification (severe visual impairment), by Dainelis Calunga from Santiago in 57 kg and Sheila Hernandez from Holguin in +70 kg. Another Santiago native, Ariagna Hechevarría, will compete in the 70 kg, but in the J1 category for the blind.

For the men, José Manuel Romero will compete in 73 kg and Yoandi Fernández in +90 kg, both with J2 medical-functional qualification.

In the J1 category, Jennys García will compete in 60 kg, Yonaldy González in 73 kg and Reinaldo Zamora in 90 kg.
