Oct 9, – Russian carrier Orenair will launch direct flights between Russia and the famed beach resort of Varadero in Cuba on October 25, Cubanacan Travel Agency said Tuesday.
Velio Barrero, commercial director of the agency, said tour operator Pegas Turistik will organize a biweekly flight of a 364-seat Boeing 777 to bring Russian vacationers to Cuba's shores.
The flight will include 30 travel agents on its maiden voyage to familiarize its operation with Cuba's tourism industry and tourist attractions.
The Russian market is one of Cuba's major sources of international visitors. Varadero in Matanzas province is the country's largest seaside resort, about 140 kilometers east of Havana, with 51 hotels housing more than 20,000 rooms.
In 2012, travel website TripAdvisor ranked Varadero No.10 among the top 25 beach destinations across the world. /XINHUA
