Cuba Develops New Vimang-based Products

Havana, September 25 (AIN-RHC) Cuba is creating new wines, rums and soft drinks using extracts of biologically active natural compounds as vimang which improve people's quality of life.

The initiative will allow Cuba to expand its market to clients with different likes and create a new line of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in the island.

Mónica Parra Macias, expert of the technological and development department at Empresa de Bebidas y Refrescos Habana (Havana Drinks and Soft Drinks Company) (EMBER) told AIN news agency that the company created a dry and a semi-dry drinks yet to be registered commercially.

Both drinks have a liquid extract of vimang with low alcohol content, ginger, mate essence and stevia sweetener.

Macias, who is participating in Labiofam 2014 International Congress, said experts created cola and mate soft drinks containing vimang and vitamin C. The company hope to include other flavor as pineapple and grape.

Vimang, used to improve human health and quality of life, comprise three main production lines: liquid extract, syrup and cream, the later with therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. It boosts the function of antioxidants in humans, in healthy people and others with some disorders such as skin illness and cancer. It is an antioxidant nutritional supplement and helps to prevent the skin aging process.
