Mexico surpasses 50 million vaccinations against COVID-19

Mexico City, June 21 (RHC)-- Mexico's Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, confirmed this Sunday that the nation will surpass 50 million vaccines in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through an interactive video, the Mexican foreign minister emphasized that the nation will meet the goal of the Vaccination Plan set by the Executive.  "In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we face the challenge set by the President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to bring vaccines to all Mexicans," he added.

The announcement was confirmed by Ebrard himself, who assured that for the month of June 40 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 will be received, "in April 10 million doses were received, in May 50 million and in June 40 million", stated the video issued by the foriegn minister.

For its part, the Federal Health Secretariat reported on Sunday a slight increase of eight percent in the number of coronavirus infections; since the arrival of the virus, the country has 2,477,283 confirmed cases.

Likewise, the highest health authority announced 36 new deaths, for a total of 231,187 fatalities due to the pandemic.

Regarding the implementation of the National Vaccination Strategy, the Federal Health Secretariat confirmed that 400,151 doses of vaccine against the coronavirus have been applied in all regions of the count.
