Mexico registers record number of COVID-19 cases with almost 45,000 cases

Mexico City, January 16 (RHC)-- Mexico's Health Ministry reports that during the last 24 hours 44,293 Covid-19 infections were confirmed, for a new record of maximum infections of the disease in one day.

With the new cases, the Latin American country accumulates a total of 4,302,069 infections of the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.  This is the third consecutive day in which Mexico has registered more than 40,000 cases in a single day.

Health authorities indicated that 195 new deaths due to the viral disease were reported during the day.  To date, Mexico has a total of 301,107 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in February 2020.
They also mentioned that 3,396,946 people have overcome the disease, while there are 616,441 suspected cases.

The Ministry of Health pointed out that despite the high number of infections, the occupation of general hospital beds is at 28 percent, while intensive care beds are occupied at 16 percent at the national level.
