Brasilia, Feb 23 (RHC) Margaret Chang, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), and Carissa Etienne, director of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), are meeting in Brazil Tuesday and Wednesday to evaluate the country's policies to fight the Zika Virus.

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry communiqué says the visit will help Margaret Chang become familiar with the results of ongoing research on the disease in Brazil, and will inform President Dilma Rousseff on the global surveillance and response efforts the WHO has coordinated to stop the epidemic.

The World Bank President, Yim Yong Kim, has further announced a 150 million dollar package to finance urgent action in Latin America and the Caribbean to prevent Zika from spreading.
