Santa Clara, December 30 (RHC)-- Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz Canel has presided over the ceremony of printing of a new postal stamp commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Mausoleum in the city of Santa Clara that enshrines the remains of Ernesto Che Guevara.

It was the capture of Santa Clara, in late December 1958 by the guerrilla group commanded by Che Guevara, that signaled the death knoll of the Batista tyranny.

After the printing, Diaz Canel said that one cannot think of Santa Clara city, right in the middle of Cuba, without recalling Latin American hero, Ernesto Che Guevara.

Che was murdered in Bolivia by a U.S.-led army group despite the fact that he was wounded in battle. His remains, located after many years of effort, were brought back to Cuba and deposited in Santa Clara, the city that he liberated, in December 1958.

His remains are revered by the Cuban people and by tens of thousands of foreigners that come to Cuba every year to pay their respects to the Guerrillero Heroico, the Heroic Guerrilla, as he will always be remembered in this country and throughout the world.
