Fidel and Raul Castro Pay Homage to Deceased Farmer Leader

Havana, February 20 (RHC)-- Two wreaths were laid on behalf of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro at the tomb of Felix Gonzalez, President of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), who was buried on Wednesday in Havana.

Cuban Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party was present at the cemetery, along with other leaders.

During the heartfelt expression of mourning, Omar Ruiz, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, highlighted the life and work of Gonzalez, who died on Tuesday at the age of 52.

Ruiz recalled the work of Felix as government official and as first secretary of the PCC in the Villa Clara locality of Encrucijada, as well as the years he headed the farmer's organization in that central province, and his designation as president of the organization at a national level.
