Beijing, November 6 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has arrived in Shanghai to begin a state visit to China, where he will meet with the country's president, Xi Jinping, and other high-ranking officials.

Before arriving in China, the Cuban president visited North Korea where he was accorded a very warm welcome.

China is the fourth stop of Diaz-Canel's first tour of European and Asian countries after taking office last April.  He had previously visited this Asian country in 2013 and 2015.

The Cuban leader's agenda in China includes the signing of bilateral agreements and a tour of the International Import Expo which opened Monday in Shanghai.  Cuba is participating in the event with leading products and services.

Besides his encounter with President Xi Jinping, Diaz Canel is expected to meet with Prime Minister Li Keqiang and the presidents of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Li Zhanshu and Wang Yang, respectively.

After China, the Cuban president international tour will continue in Vietnam and Laos.
