Peru´s Foreign Minister supports Cuba´s candidacy for the UN Human Rights Council

Havana, September 2 (RHC)-- The Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed in Lima his country's support for Cuba's candidacy as a member of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council.

In an appearance before the International Relations Commission of the Congress of the Republic, the Minister stated that Peru, as part of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (Grulac), supports the Cuban candidacy.

López added that the Grulac always maintains a unanimous position of support for the candidates of the region to the Human Rights Commission, regardless of political considerations.

The head of the Peruvian diplomacy stressed that Cuba had been elected to the UN Human Rights Council in 2006, 2009, 2013, and 2016 and each time it has run, it has been elected.
