Presidió Marrero reunión sobre situación de ka covid en Cuba.

Havana, February 16 (RHC)-- Indiscipline and the violations of the protocols established in Cuba against Covid-19 constitute today the primary deficiencies that hinder the country's response to the pandemic, according to a governmental analysis.

In the meeting of the temporary group created to face the disease, headed by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, participants insisted on the importance of an effective search for cases in the communities.

According to a local television report, the head of Government called attention to the need to comply with the hygienic measures foreseen, both in state institutions and at the community, family, and individual levels.

In this sense, he stressed that it is vital to reinforce control and epidemiological surveillance in workplaces since statistics show that these places can become places of propagation in any violation of the regulations.

An example of this is that in Havana, four of the five local transmission events (chains of contagion with more than 10 cases) in the province correspond to these entities. At the same time, in Guantanamo (east), many patients acquired the SARS-CoV-2 virus in these places.

The state institutions must be models in strict compliance with what is established, stressed Marrero, who also requested to make a detailed analysis of the clinical history of each of the people who die to gain experience and identify any possible failure.

Deputy Prime Minister Roberto Morales referred to the problems in the epidemiological surveillance carried out in the communities.

In this regard, he commented that of the five million people screened Monday, only 538 were suspected, which in his opinion reflects inefficiency in this instrument, which needs to be effective to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

At the meeting, they urged the population to go immediately to health facilities when any symptoms appear, since in recent days the country has experienced an increase in the number of symptomatic cases.

Cuba is going through a tense moment in the fight against the pandemic, with an increase in the number of diagnosed persons and deaths.

So far, in February, 10,600 new patients have been reported in the Caribbean nation, and 53 people have lost their lives; hence, the Government is increasing measures in all areas.
