Havana, October 23 (RHC)--The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) is holding its 2nd plenary session over the weekend to evaluate the implementation of the agreements of the 8th Congress, held last April and other issues.

The meeting, underway at Havana's Convention Center, will seek ways to strengthen the role of the PCC as the highest authority in Cuban society, for which the integrity of each of its members is a determining factor, said Granma newspaper.

In this regard, the paper recalled what Army General Raul Castro said at the 8th Congress: 'the moral authority of the only party that guarantees and represents the nation's unity, emanates precisely from exemplarity in the fulfillment of duty.

The First Secretary of the Party, Miguel Díaz-Canel, remarked that despite the threats, the blockade imposed by the United States, Covid-19 pandemic, and subversion, the main strength is unity, with the PCC as the vanguard.

In November, the party's grassroots organizations will begin their stock-taking process to analyze the internal work, the direct link with the masses, and its role in the economic development of the nation.

Together with the renewal or ratification of mandates, these debates will take place in the municipal and district committees during November and December, while in the provincial structures, they will take place in January and February 2022.
