Havana, October 23 (RHC)-- Cuba reported 1,393 new positive cases of Covid-19 and 14 deaths due to complications associated with the disease.

In a televised briefing, the national chief of Epidemiology, Francisco Durán, said the country thus accumulated 944,431 diagnosed with that coronavirus since March 11, 2020, and 8,167 fatalities.

He added that 5,846 positive cases are hospitalized with the active virus.

Health authorities also informed that 99.9 percent of Cuba's vaccine-eligible population (9,780,864 people) had received at least the first dose of an anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

The figure represents 87.4 percent of all the island's inhabitants --a little more than 11 million 180 thousand--who have the initial injection of Soberana 02, Soberana Plus designed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute, or Abdala, from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.

On the other hand, authorities indicated that a total of 6,939,289 Cubans have the complete immunization scheme.
