11th International Meeting on Early Education Starts in Cuba

Havana, July 9 (RHC) -- The 11th International Meeting on Early and Preschool Education got underway Tuesday at Havana's Convention Center with the participation of experts and educators from over 20 countries.

During the opening ceremony, the director of the Latin American Reference Center for Early Childhood Education and chairwoman of the organizing committee, Isabel Rios, highlighted the relevance and maturity achieved over time in these events, which provide an space for the exchange of experiences on childcare themes.

Rios highlighted Cuba's efforts to guarantee children's welfare and explained the different strategies implemented by the Cuban government and organizations to that end.

The 11th Meeting, whose central theme is 'From Pregnancy to the Future: Transit, Coordination and Continuity', is attended by Cuban education authorities and major institutions, such as UNICEF.

The event also includes a lecture by the executive director of the Institute for Reconstruction and International Security through Education, Emily Vargas-Baron on policies for Preschool and Early Education.
