Havana, May 25 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed appreciation to all the leaders of the region who have urged the United States to hold an inclusive Summit of the Americas.

"We appreciate the courageous and dignified position of the countries that have raised their voices against exclusions."

In a statement to a meeting of the Council of Ministers held Wednesday, the Head of State noted that from its inception, the Summit was intended to exclude several countries, including Cuba, despite the strong regional demand to put an end to exclusions.

"It is also known that the United States has been making intense efforts and has exerted severe pressure to demobilize the just and robust claims of most of the region's countries calling for an inclusive Summit.

The President also said that Cuba shares the position of the leaders of the region, who have strongly demanded that all have to be invited on an equal footing.

Regarding his possible presence at the event,  he stressed that under the circumstances that the preparations have taken place and because of the attitude kept by the U.S. government, he assured that under no circumstances he would participate in the event.

However, he said that, as has been the case in the past, the voice of Cuba will be heard at the IX Summit of the Americas.
