The cargo of medicines, 200 sacks of milk, 90 boxes of surgical gloves, and 77 boxes of pasta arrived in Havana from representatives of the Bridges of Love project and Code Pink.

Havana, Nov 6 (RHC) Solidarity organizations based in the United States delivered on Saturday a donation valued at more than 70 thousand dollars to support the recovery of the western province of Pinar del Río, hit by Hurricane Ian.

The cargo of medicines, 200 sacks of milk, 90 boxes of surgical gloves, and 77 boxes of pasta arrived in Havana from representatives of the Bridges of Love project, headed by Cuban-American Carlos Lazo and U.S. citizen Medea Benjamin, leader of the Code Pink organization, accompanied by other solidarity groups.

Upon his arrival in Cuba at the José Martí International Airport in the capital, Lazo said that people of goodwill collaborated to help in the recovery of Pinar del Río and thus demonstrate the will of the whole world to lift the blockade imposed by the United States on the island.

"Perhaps it is not much in terms of material aid, but in terms of love and solidarity towards Cuba", he added.

For her part, Medea Benjamin said she was thrilled to be here, with a plane full of food and medicine, days after the vote at the United Nations where almost the entire world voted against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade.

She assured that this is an aid full of love, and friendship and a gesture representative of the "shame we Americans feel with the policies of Joe Biden's administration".

The director of the North American department at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Leima Martinez, highlighted the importance of the solidarity load for the recovery and thanked all Cuban Americans who defend the right to have normal relations between both nations and contribute with these gestures to the island after disasters caused by natural phenomena.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of Bridges of Love, Carlos Lazo, reiterated his demand to the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden to fulfill his electoral promises and let Cuba live in peace and put an end to these 60 years of economic war. (Source: Prensa Latina).
