TeleSur highlights Díaz-Canel's speech at the VIII Caricom-Cuba Summit

Havana, Dec 6 (RHC) The Latin American multi-state news channel TeleSur highlighted Tuesday the speech made by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the VIII Caricom-Cuba Summit taking place in Barbados.

On its Web page, it notes that the dignitary reiterated his country's solidarity with the nations of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and the offer of cooperation and collaboration in specific areas of common interest with countries that he described as "brothers".

It added that Díaz-Canel listed the most recent intra-regional collaboration actions, including the shipment of a little more than 100,000 doses of Cuban vaccines against Covid-19 and other products from Cuban biopharmaceutical industries.

"Likewise, he ratified the offer of scholarships for students of the region in careers of social impact such as Medicine, and recalled the figures of collaboration in several social areas", reports TeleSur.

On the other hand, he thanked what he called the courage of the Caribbean nations in the face of the U.S. hostility towards Cuban medical collaboration in the Caribbean.

"Solidarity has characterized the ties between Cuba and the Caribbean," said Díaz-Canel, while listing some formative projects, based in countries of the region to give continuity to the current ties.

The Cuban president called for taking advantage of linguistic diversity as a factor for integration, starting with the implementation of educational agreements.

TeleSur recalled that he called for the acceleration of efforts to protect against the effects of Climate Change, to which Caribbean countries are very vulnerable, and welcomed the efforts of the Civil Defense forces in particular.

Furthermore, TeleSur highlighted one of the fragments of the President's speech this Tuesday morning in Barbados: "I am certain that this meeting will prove that the unity of the peoples is essential for human improvement and to achieve a more just, equitable, and sustainable world. We are convinced that this meeting will reinforce the indestructible character of our ties".
