Jurists evaluate the role of the Ombudsman's Office in the Cuban context

Havana, Feb 21 (RHC) Cuban Justice Minister Oscar Silvera Martínez affirmed that the exercise of law allows for progress in the implementation of the statutes of the Constitution of the Republic and the Family and Procedural Codes.

As part of a workshop on these matters, the Minister emphasized that this vision will allow facing social problems from the legal sciences, psychology, and other related sciences.

Mr. Silvera Martinez said sensitivity is essential in specialists' actions to strengthen the legal practice.

He added that the concern for these issues shows the humanist will of the socialist revolutionary government to address the complexities present in Cuban reality.

Teresa Amarrelle Boué, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women, attended the meeting and agreed on the need for greater empathy to address situations of vulnerability among girls and women.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Redondo Ramos, coordinator of the Legislative activity of the Ministry of Justice specified that in response to the task, an Ombudsman's Office Directorate will be created under the Ombudsman's Department in the Provincial Directorates of Justice.

Redondo Ramos clarified that these figures will assume the legal representation of the citizens and the observation of the processes so that there are no violations of rights in their different phases. (Source: ACN)
