United Nations, October 1 (RHC)-- Nicaragua, St. Lucia, Grenada, Suriname, Barbados, and Guinea have joined the world-wide demand for the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba at the UN General Assembly.

Manuel Santos, the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister, demanded the immediate end of the 50-year long blockade against Cuba during the sixth session of the Assembly's General Debate,

The Nicaragua foreign minister also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of four Cuban anti-terrorists, who remain imprisoned in U.S. jails.

St. Lucia's Foreign Minister Alva Baptiste said the blockade is “an open wound in the flesh of our Hemsiphere,” while his Suriname counterpart, Winston Lackin, said the blockade is a “relic of the Cold War.”  Both agreed that the blockade must be ended immediately.

So far, more than 40 speakers from all over the world have specifically referred to the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
