Havana UN Model Havmun 2016 to Address Strategies against Terrorism

Havana, Mar 30 (RHC) On Wednesday the youth at the 21st Meeting of the UN Model in Havana, Havmun 2016, will discuss  the global strategy to deal with terrorism and the non-proliferation of light weaponry.

 In four work commissions, the more than 200 university students from Cuba, Mexico, Ecuador, the US and Russia will also talk about protection for young people in countries in conflict, the defense of cultural heritage and educational institutions.

Also on the agenda of the on-going event at the University of Havana is the construction of a world of peace, social  justice and sustainable development.

From its start, this 21st edition of Havmun has heard lectures by Cuban former diplomat Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada on the Reforms of the UN 70 years after its creation, while Havana University's Rector, Gustavo Cobreiro, noted the meeting's significance for the students' overall training and formation, in mastering the world's current political, economic and social developments.
