Havana, November 12 (RHC)— Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel visited the central Province of Villa Clara on Thursday to assess the impact on that region of tropical storm Eta.

A statement on Twitter by the Republic's Presidency said that the province suffered heavy rains quickly, with more significant accumulations in Manicaragua, Placetas, and Santa Clara. 25 thousand people were evacuated.

Villa Clara entered on Wednesday the recovery phase of the damages caused by the Eta in houses, roads, and agriculture.

The area most affected corresponds to the mountainous zone of Manicaragua, where the floods left several communities isolated.

According to specialists, the territory's dams have favorable water storage, with a reservoir accumulation of more than 87 percent.
