Water Polo Masters Tournament

Havana, Jun 13 (JIT) - On Friday, Havana team showed superiority in the second edition of the Hermanos Martinez Ginoris Masters Water Polo Cup, in Varadero, defeating Santiago de Cuba 30-8.

Led by the outstanding performances of Amauri Bou and Yoel Martin -with six goals each-, the capital's team gave no chance to their opponents, who were relegated to the bottom of the table with two defeats in two outings.

The indomitable team, which had lost to Matanzas (21-7), has to be content with the bronze in the triangular tournament, which will close its curtains next Sunday.

This Saturday, Havana will seek to extend its positive streak against the hosts Matanzas in a duel that promises excitement, although it will be repeated for the title on the date of the farewell.

At the same time, the event will have an additional attraction in its most immediate day with the world and Guinness record holder, Jhoen Lefont, who will try to set a new record for the most touches to the ball with his head in the water, with the added difficulty of carrying 15 kg of ballast in his body.

The outstanding dominator is in the running for the top scorer's category, tied on six goals with the capital's Bou and Martín.

The tournament, which combines sporting competition and spectacle, continues to consolidate itself as a high-level venue for masters water polo in Cuba.
