
National Youth Speed Skating Championship
Havana, June 27 (RHC) - An outstanding performance by Deivis Yunior Priol helped the capital's team reign supreme at the National Youth Speed Skating Championship, which finished in Sancti Spíritus.
The Havana sprinter won four titles and a bronze medal in the competition and also broke two national records in the category.
After his record in the first days of competition, achieved in the 200-meter distance, Priol set another record in the men's 100-meter track event.
The member of the national skating team skated for a time of 9.86 seconds. The previous record was 9.97 and belonged to Ronald Magaña from Granma.
In other results, Haddiel Jiménez and Víctor Ortega accompanied Priol in the 100-meter race, finishing second and third, respectively.
The women's race was dominated by Regla Montelier from Sancti Spíritus, followed by Melani Corbea from Havana and Izis María Cruz from Mayabeque. This trio crossed the finish line in that order in the women's 8,000-meter combined event.
Among the men, Randolf Hernández from the capital took the title, accompanied on the winners' podium by Leandro Díaz from Mayabeque and Dalier Maresa from Camagüey.
