Sanaa, June 24 (RHC)-- Yemeni officials say more than 82,000 volunteers have completed a military training course, qualifying them to take part in battles against the US-backed Israeli regime, which has been waging wars against countries across West Asia.
On Monday, Faiz al-Hanami, a Yemeni official who is in charge of general mobilization in Sana’a, said over 82,000 Yemenis took part in the first training course, named “al-Aqsa Storm”, to be fully prepared for battles against the Israeli regime and the US in support of the oppressed people of Palestine.
Yemenis have repeatedly asked Saudi Arabia and Jordan to open their borders for Yemeni fighters to allow them to pass through to the Israeli-occupied territories. Hanami also announced that the second training course for volunteers from Sana’a has begun, noting that a total of 100,000 people are expected to be trained in the capital, Sana’a, alone.
These courses are also held in other Yemeni provinces, including Sa’ada, 'Amran, Hajjah, and Jawf.
Since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemeni forces have carried out scores of operations in support of Gazans, striking targets throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to targeting American ships or vessels heading towards ports in the occupied territories.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after Hamas-led Palestinian resistance groups waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
At least 55,998 people, most of them women and children, have been killed and over 131,559 others injured in Israel's attacks on Gaza.
The second military training course in Sana’a comes as Yemen has announced that it is joining Iran in the war against Israel and the United States.
The Israeli regime launched unprovoked aggression on the Islamic Republic on June 13, with American backing, assassinating several top-ranking military commanders, scientists and many other civilians, including women and children.
Over the weekend, the U.S. decided to finally make its support for the Israeli aggression against Iran official with direct intervention in the war that the Tel Aviv regime has been losing.
In the early hours of Sunday, the U.S. launched unlawful strikes against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, in a clear violation of international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
