Havana, April 23 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked the support of the foreign ministers of the Caribbean Community during his recent meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

On Twitter, the head of Cuban diplomacy expressed his gratitude to his counterparts from the Caribbean area, who urged Washington to review, as soon as possible, its policy towards the largest island of the Caribbean.

On April 21, Eamon Courtenay, Belize's foreign minister, on behalf of the group of countries, took advantage of the virtual round table with the U.S. Secretary of State to urge him to resume the policy of "détente" with Havana.

At the meeting, the members of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) called on the White House to discuss punitive lists and access to financing, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic and its economic impact.

In this context, they also asked the northern power to help with access to vaccines against the disease, an imperative for the region to emerge from the economic devastation caused by the health emergency.

The crisis caused by the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and the possible effects of the upcoming hurricane season, were also among the issues brought up in the talks.
