Havana, May 11 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel returned Tuesday to the vicinity of the Saratoga Hotel in Havana to check on the search and rescue efforts for people missing after the explosion on Friday, May 6th.

Through its account on the social network Twitter, the official website of the presidency shared images of the Cuban president in the place accompanied by other authorities of the province and the country.

"After a meeting at the Palace of the Revolution of the Government Group that has been checking the actions to be taken since the fateful May 6, @DiazCanelB received a comprehensive explanation on the progress of the search for the 3 people who are still missing," the presidency said.

Cuba reported so far 43 deaths due to the explosion, as well as almost one hundred injured.  The building was being prepared for its reopening, so the victims are mostly tourism workers, passers-by, and inhabitants of neighboring houses.

Rescuers and firemen are still searching for at least three people who are still missing under the rubble.
