Havana, March 10 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated Thursday his country's commitment to strengthen relations among the nations of the South and as pro tempore president of the Group of 77 plus China to face the challenges of development.

The minister thus referred to the results of the V United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDCs), held in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

In his Twitter account, Rodriguez reaffirmed Cuba's willingness to put at the service of those nations the island's experience "in science, technology, and innovation, including vaccines against Covid-19, as part of South-South and triangular cooperation schemes.

He noted that Cuba " as President of the G-77 + China, ratified the Group's commitment to the effective implementation of the Doha Program of Action for the Least Developed Countries.

The event also "reiterated Cuba's willingness to continue to give a voice to the nations of the South in the face of the many challenges arising from the current unjust international order," the Foreign Minister said.

The Cuban delegation to the Conference was headed by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.

The meeting held from March 6 to 9 assessed the situation of the 46 least developed countries in the world, which are the most difficult to meet the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 proposed by the UN.

According to the organizers, the remaining years to date should mark the beginning of a new global partnership to ensure that these nations benefit from social, economic, and environmental development.

The Conference had among its objectives to promote ways to accelerate sustainable development where international assistance is most needed and to harness the full potential of the least developed countries. (Source: Prensa Latina).
