by Javier Perez Jimenez

Havana, September 28 (RHC) – Cuban Robiel Yankiel Sol achieved another feat today by winning the gold medal in the T46 long jump at the World Para Athletics Championships, with a jump of 7.57 meters that sealed his reign.

A two-time Paralympic and world champion, and world record holder with a jump of 7.84 meters, Sol once again demonstrated his proficiency at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by achieving the best time of the day on his first attempt.

Silver went to Russia’s Nikita Kotukov with a jump of 7.21 meters, while bronze went to China’s Hao Wang (7.19 meters), in a high-level final that kept the crowd in suspense.

The other Cuban in the competition, Abraham Viltre (T46), failed to validate any of his three jumps and was left without a record, despite arriving with finalist hopes.

The Cuban delegation remains committed to shining at this twelfth world event, which brings together the world’s best athletes on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

In the coming days, Lázaro Suárez (T13) will be competing in the 100 and 400 meters, Guillermo Varona (F46), Ulicer Aguilera (F13), and Ever René Castro (F41) in the javelin throw, Daniel Milanés (T47) in the lap of the oval, and Felipa Isis Hechavarría (T46) in the long jump, all aiming to extend Caribbean glory in New Delhi.
