Havana, September 30 (RHC) – Cubans Noslen Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo are currently ranked 11th in the world, which puts them in the top three in the Americas on the Pro Tour beach volleyball list.
Silver medalists at the Elite 16 tournament in Rio de Janeiro this weekend, the Caribbean pair boast 5,720 points, surpassed only in the region by Argentine brothers Nicolás and Tomas Capogrosso (fourth in the standings) and Brazilians Evandro Gonçalves and Arthur Lanci (seventh in the standings).
With a total of 15 tournaments competed in this season, Díaz and Alayo’s best performances include gold at the Quintana Roo stop in March and a runner-up title in Rio de Janeiro, in addition to fifth place in Hamburg, Saquarema, and Yucatán.
The top Cuban pair is scheduled to compete in the Veracruz Challenge, Mexico, scheduled for October 1-5.
The World Pro Tour rankings are led by the Norwegian duo of Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sandlie Sorum with 8,600 points, followed by the Dutchmen Stefan Boermans and Yorick De Groot (7,340) and the Swiss David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig (7,240), second and third, respectively.
