Havana, October 2 (RHC) – Cuba remains in the running at the Chile 2025 U-20 World Cup after securing a historic 2-2 draw with Italy in the second round of Group D.
The Antilles salvaged a valuable point with Michael Camejo’s second penalty in the 87th minute. The midfielder scored for the Caribbean team in the 70th minute to give his team hope at the Elías Figueroa Brander Stadium.
Andrea Natali (14th minute) and Jamal Iddrissoo (31st minute) gave the Europeans a temporary lead in the first half, but then suffered the expulsion of their second scorer in stoppage time (45+3).
In another match of the day, Mexico drew 2-2 with Spain in Group C, with a brace from Gilberto Mora for El Tri (32nd and 87th minutes) and from Pablo García (42nd minute) and Iker Bravo (80th minute penalty) for the Iberians.
