Havana, October 4 (RHC) – Cuban parathlete Ulicer Aguilera won the silver medal today in the F13 javelin throw at the world championships in New Delhi with a throw of 63.37, his personal best and a record for the Americas.
The Paris 2024 Paralympic bronze medalist achieved the prize shot on his second attempt. With 63.37 meters, he set a continental record and placed behind British favorite Daniel Pembroke, the unbeatable man in recent years in this event.
Ulicer, a two-time Parapan American Games champion, now improved on his world bronze from Paris 2023 and demonstrated that despite his 36 years of age, he remains in top form to achieve even better results in the remainder of the season leading up to the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
His previous best was 62.51 meters, although this season he only had a maximum of 59 meters.
Pembroke, the world record holder in this category, dominated with 68.51 meters, while the bronze medal went to Spaniard Héctor Cabrera, who scored 60.27 meters.
