Havana, November 7 (RHC) – Real Sociedad salvaged a point today after drawing 1-1 with Elche in the opening match of the 12th round of the Spanish football league.
At the Manuel Martínez Valero stadium in Elche, the home side took the lead in the 57th minute through Álvaro Rodríguez, despite Real Sociedad’s dominance.
The second half tilted even more in favor of the visitors as they searched for an equalizer with attempts from Brais Méndez, a header from Jon Aramburu, and a shot from Mikel Oyarzabal.
Elche remained defensive in the final minutes, but in the 89th minute, a VAR review confirmed a penalty, which Oyarzabal converted to level the score.
With this result, Real Sociedad climbed to 12th place with 14 points, while Elche remained in ninth place with 15 points, awaiting the rest of the weekend’s matches.
