Venezuela reasserts U.S. threat to nation and region in letter to the United Nations

by Ed Newman

Venezuela has sharply criticized the United Nations for framing Caracas and Washington as two equal parties in calls to reduce regional tensions, stressing that such language ignores ongoing US aggression.

In a message addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil said Caracas rejects the equalization of Venezuela and the United States, emphasizing that only one side is fueling instability.

He added that the US administration “is the aggressor,” pointing to Washington’s militarization of the Caribbean and its direct threats to the Venezuelan people.
