President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounces economic war against the Cuban people

by Ed Newman

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, denounced today that the economic war against Cuba is designed to depress the people’s income as much as possible.

On his official X account, the Cuban president affirmed that the proven funding of digital media outlets like El Toque, aimed at exacerbating the depreciation of our currency, is part of this strategy.

The presidential warning comes days after the television program “Razones de Cuba” exposed the economic warfare operations promoted and financed by the United States Department of State through the El Toque platform and its exchange rate.

Journalistic investigations revealed that José Jasán Nieves Cárdenas, director of El Toque, receives funding from the U.S. government, channeled through companies like Media Plus Experience, in a clear network of currency trafficking and mercenary operations.

According to the documentation, the so-called “representative informal market rate” promoted by this digital media outlet fluctuates not due to genuine economic dynamics, but through manipulation and speculation, artificially inducing panic and compulsive currency purchases.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla had previously warned the United Nations General Assembly about these maneuvers, designed to artificially inflate inflation on the island, erode the population’s purchasing power, and provoke a social explosion for destabilizing purposes.
