Cuba Secured a Ticket to the Santo Domingo 2026 Baseball Tournament

by Javier Perez Jimenez

Havana, November 17 (RHC) – The Executive Committee of the Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE), taking into account the ranking of the World Baseball-Softball Confederation, awarded five direct tickets for the tournament of that sport at the Central American and Caribbean Games of Santo Domingo 2026.

The national teams that secured spots through this route were those of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, Cuba, and Colombia.

The Copabe officials also decided that a ticket will be available for the team that wins the upcoming Caribbean Baseball Cup, to be held in the Bahamas from December 1st to 9th.

Five teams will compete there: the U.S. Virgin Islands, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, the host nation, and another team yet to be confirmed from a league in the Dominican Republic.

In next year’s regional multi-sport event, the Cuban national team will attempt to reclaim the gold medal lost in Barranquilla 2018 and San Salvador 2023, where Mexico won the title.

A Cuban team has not won the championship at this level since the 2014 edition held in Veracruz, under the leadership of Víctor Mesa.
