Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla has denounced the U.S. government’s attempt to isolate the island at the United Nations and prevent its legitimate cooperation with the organization’s agencies and programs.
In a message on Twitter, the Foreign Minister emphasized that, nevertheless, Washington continues to fail in this “pernicious attempt.”
He specified that this Wednesday, Cuba presented the Cuba-UNICEF Country Program 2026-2030, which was approved with only one dissenting vote: that of the United States.
Rodríguez Parrilla noted that the overwhelming approval of the Cuban project demonstrates the international community’s willingness to support the island’s development.
Presenting the program during the First Ordinary Session of the UNICEF Executive Board, Cuba’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, emphasized that the document establishes a strategic cooperation framework to strengthen the well-being of children and adolescents.
He explained that the Program is based on Cuba’s commitment to the full enjoyment of children’s rights, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic, the Family Code, the Comprehensive Policy for Children, Adolescents, and Youth, and the new Children, Adolescents, and Youth Code.
Its implementation, Soberón Guzmán added, will contribute to preserving the social gains achieved, ensuring access to essential resources, and mobilizing national and international partnerships to support economic recovery and the comprehensive well-being of future generations.
