Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez attended a demonstration exercise by the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) for National Defense Day. According to a statement released Saturday by the Presidency, the head of state was accompanied by the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), Álvaro López Miera, and the Minister of the Minint, Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas.
On the ground, the Cuban leader oversaw high-tech maneuvers designed to address risk situations. Díaz-Canel emphasized that the island is at a decisive moment, which demands rigorous practical preparation in the face of external aggression.
During the day, the Head of State spoke with young students from the “Eliseo Reyes Rodríguez” Higher Institute. The cadets carried out exercises in assembling, disassembling, and firing infantry weapons to validate their operational skills. The president inquired about the quality of the combat training, underscoring that technical preparation is vital to guaranteeing the nation’s stability.
Students like Roxaura Hernández highlighted that the training is fundamental to confronting imperialism’s attempts to subjugate the country. Faced with Washington’s increasing hostility, the young people reaffirmed their commitment to not allow Cuban sovereignty to be violated. In the centennial year of Fidel Castro, the youth reaffirmed their commitment to confronting any enemy threat.
Cadet Yosuanis Cueva stated that the skills acquired in the field are essential for the future of the nation. He expressed his unwavering commitment to being “in combat for the Revolution” in the face of constant threats from the U.S. government. The future officers see military training as a necessary tool to neutralize any aggression and protect the achievements of the Cuban social system.
The day also highlighted the role of women in defense, evoking the example of patriots like Mariana Grajales. Students like Brenda Espinosa pointed out that defending the homeland is an honor, a duty, and an inalienable right of every Cuban. The practical application of theoretical knowledge ensures that new generations are ready to safeguard the integrity of the national territory.
The exercise concluded by reaffirming the unity between the people and their armed forces in the face of foreign aggression. The presence of the country’s top leadership at these exercises reinforces the message of resilience and sovereign determination. Cuba thus reaffirms that its security is an absolute priority and that it has a youth prepared to defend the destiny of the Revolution.
