Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, held a cordial telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, to whom he updated the complex situation facing the island, aggravated by the energy blockade imposed by the United States.
Through his official account on the social network X, the Cuban president stated: “I had a warm telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Barbados, my dear friend @miaamormottley. I updated her on the situation in #Cuba, aggravated by the United States’ energy blockade. As always, I received her solidarity and affection for the Cuban people, for which I expressed our gratitude.”
During the exchange, Díaz-Canel reaffirmed “the commitment to continue deepening the historic ties with Barbados and the other Caribbean countries,” in line with the traditional policy of brotherhood and cooperation that Cuba has maintained with Caribbean nations since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The Prime Minister of Barbados, a recognized regional leader and staunch defender of Caribbean integration, has repeatedly expressed her support for Cuba in the face of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington.
Its position aligns with the repeated pronouncements of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which has consistently demanded the cessation of unilateral measures against the Island and defended Cuba’s right to develop normal economic relations with all countries.
