Yamal’s Goal Consolidates Barcelona’s Lead in Spanish Football

Havana, March 8 (RHC) – Lamine Yamal’s goal in the second half led Barcelona to victory against Athletic Club Bilbao, confirming their position at the top of Spanish football.

After a balanced first half, the Barcelona star scored the winning goal in the 68th minute, securing three points for the Catalan side in their visit to San Mamés.

Ahead of this week’s Champions League round of 16 first leg, German coach Hansi Flick rotated his squad against Athletic Bilbao, with regular starters like Pedri, Fermín, and Raphinha seeing action on the bench in the match corresponding to Matchday 27 of the domestic league.

Barcelona celebrated their 22nd victory and reached 67 points at the top of the table, four ahead of their closest pursuer, Real Madrid, who defeated Celta Vigo 2-1 the previous day.

On Saturday, Atlético Madrid consolidated their third position with 54 points after beating Real Sociedad 3-2; while Osasuna and Mallorca drew 2-2, and Levante and Girona tied 1-1.

In the continuation of the league, Getafe will face Real Betis, Sevilla will play against Rayo Vallecano, Valencia will face Alavés and Villarreal versus Elche.
